PlayStation Vita: Miyamoto lays down the shit-talk on Sony’s portable!

He didn't do it! Nobody saw him do it! You can't prove anything!

Alright, so he’s not REALLY shit-talking. In fact, he’s offering some pretty good advice, but knowing Sony it’s not going to stick. They are impervious to wisdom. Shigeru Miyamoto points out that Vita is just missing a reason to visit the device in the first place. Knock offs of console games aren’t going to cut it and without anything to really put the hardware to the test there’s nothing in the library to effectively sell the product. He even goes so far as to talk… Continue reading →

Xam’d: Delivering awesomeness via Airship Snail-mail

From the lion’s share of folks that brought you Fullmetal Alchemist & FMA: Brotherhood (Aniplex & Bones) comes a show so amazing that Sony sat on it to keep it from succeeding. Well, not necessarily, they sat on it because they assumed they could get away with hoarding the series in order to nurture their video sales on the PlayStation Network in the USA and Japan back in 2008. Like having an exclusive product in a store, the intent was to make people into consistent… Continue reading →

Sony: Rebranding to evade Predators and Tablets to bleed a dry market

Long Live Play isn’t the only strange change to come about for Sony. Sony is looking to change their image and stuff. They’re trying to throw certain parties, elements and methods under the bus in light of an additional lawsuit and the oft-referenced bad press from having one of the most horrific breaches of consumer information ever recorded. It is as though it finally dawned upon them to try and shake this shit, but in the typically ineffective Sony fashion. You’ve seen the “return” of… Continue reading →

Sony: Kevin Butler… is back?

Did he ever leave? Well, per Joystiq, in his usual silliness on Twitter he apparently handed Sony their walking papers about four days ago. Yeah. That makes this return just dramatic as all hell. The point of all this? To introduce a new slogan to market the PlayStation 3: “Long Live Play” “Long Live Play” replaces Sony’s previous marketing tagline of: “It Only Does Everything”, which probably didn’t look so good after the interchangeable result (going from Blu-Ray, to Online gaming, etc. in the commercials)… Continue reading →

Sony: PS3 Price drop to $250? Others likely to follow?

Finally, a price drop without a requirement to electronic disembowelment. Heads up to those of you still on the fence this late into the console wars: The PS3 is going to get cheaper, to wait up on that otherwise urgent purchase and save yourself a few bucks. Gamasutra writer Chris Morris theorizes that this very threatening action encroaches into Microsoft’s sensitive areas and might lead into a competitive reduction in the costs of the Xbox 360 or their Kinect peripheral. Or not. It depends. See… Continue reading →

Sony: PSP is gutted for budget market; so its a European thing… I guess?

Finally, a PSP that does LESS. I’m glad that Europe has embraced the value of obtaining devices that do fewer things than their counterparts. FINALLY. I had missed out on this because I didn’t notice that Sony was really ripping stuff out of the normal PSP to make it shinier and cheaper. Apparently, Sony was the trendsetter to taking the fun out of something for a sake of moving a few extra units of a doomed device with a short shelf life ahead of it.… Continue reading →

Resident Evil 5: Redemption – It’s officially a thing

(Uh, yeah. That sums it up pretty well, actually.) It’s coming. Like that feeling of imminent fecal urgency in a fancy restaurant with an occupied restroom, Resident Evil 5 is on it’s way down the chute. Paul W.S. Anderson is penning the on-screen appearances of “movieversere” Barry, Leon and potentially Jill. Or at least her original actress that we saw in the second movie. Yeah, speaking of fecal urgency… The films to date have been interesting. If by “interesting”, you mean shallow, wholly inaccurate bastardizations… Continue reading →

Sony: Howard Stringer is an Idiot

Or rather he’s BITCHY, but he is also a moron. And an arrogant one at that. Per Reuters His actions define a lot of what’s wrong with Sony, especially when his company’s already questionable reputation is teetering on the edge of disaster. Instead of keeping his fucking head low and saying I’m sorry a million fucking times a day, he has the nerve to come forth and sass the numerous (oh… 70 million or so) critics of his company’s delay in alerting customers to the… Continue reading →

Spider-Man: Turning off EVERYONE

(Commercial for Sony’s ridiculously failure-riddled Broadway failure of all time, it’s back and it’s… largely unchanged.) For those of you still blissfully unaware, Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark is a musical backed by Sony with interests that are two-fold: 1. Keeping the Spidey Brand afloat in the public eye while they scrambled to reboot the movie franchise they drove into the ground after they pushed Sam Raimi so far that even MONEY wouldn’t keep either him or Tobey Macguire involved in the movie franchise anymore.… Continue reading →

Sony: Congress, Batman and Anonymous! Oh… my?

To say this has gotten weird does little justice to the circumstance. But hey, all these new victims can line up for free “Batman-Inspired” Cowls, right? As Sony tries to fan attention towards the swift gazelles that comprise Anonymous, the various predatory international Government entities circle Sony like a plump cow with a sprained ankle. After nipping at Sony’s ankles to drop the beast safely on the firm ground the feasting in the form of fines, seizure and compensation will be ripped from the MegaCorp’s… Continue reading →
