Abobo’s Big Adventure is finally live for in-browser play! Check it out via the official website or newgrounds. For those few of you unfamiliar, ABA is a mash-up of NES brilliance that brings together the highlights of the console’s most memorable games and bastardizes them forever using the infamously under-referenced game boss, Abobo from Double Dragon. The game costs nothing but time (PRECIOUS TIME!!!) and it’ll play in your browser.

XBLIG Avalis Dungeon – Episode 2: More Generic Perversion in a Bland Fantasy setting

Merry Christmas everyone! The trail of perversion continues! I’m blazing a trail of digital sleaze this December, finding as much adult-themed gaming entertainment that the Xbox Live Indie Market can offer. Mostly for the purpose of shame and amusement. Such terrible shame… And hey, SPEAKING OF SHAME! From Team Shuriken, creators of Temple of Dogolrak and Avalis Dungeon. Note the faux box art difference from the original Avalis Dungeon? Go ahead and check, I’ll wait. We’ll discuss this further after the cut…

XBLIG Temple of Dogolrak: Not everything is sexier… IN SPAAAAAAAAACE!!!

So either this is an experiment or they’re desperate to prove a point over at Team Shuriken. This is their third entry on Xbox Live’s Indie Gamer Market billed as a “sexy” adventure. Their first two games were entries in the Avalis Dungeon games, which were rampant teases profuse with anime pin-up art to propel horny, er… ambitious gamers forward. The second Avalis Dungeon game was lighter on the fleshy art and significantly lighter on the gameplay itself. Sadly, I guess, this trend has bled… Continue reading →

What? You thought I was kidding when I suggested that sex sells? Let’s continue onward down this delightful path of debauchery, but we’ll turn things down a notch with a nice, slow and thought provoking adventure series. The success of this title alone has led to a sequel and even a spiritual successor beginning a new series of sexy silliness IN SPAAAAAACE! In the meantime, let’s touch (or grope, I guess) on its merits and flaws. Let’s chat about a game where your character is… Continue reading →

XBLIG Ninja Chop!!: Making it impossible to take dairy or ninjas seriously…

So sex appeal is a big part of making a sale. This is a tried and true method that has sold Axe spray deodorants, fast food, timeshares and spinning rims since forever. Throw some breasts out there and things will sell regardless of whether the buyer actually needs it or understands the function of the actual product. It’s often an act of desperation in penetrating a market, particularly if it’s something they’re willing to sell for about a buck. For a group of peculiar Xbox… Continue reading →

Alpha Squad: It has hot chicks and it HATES you for being alive

Xbox Live Indie Developer Dragon Divide awoke one day in a cold, terrified sweat as they realized how empty of breasts the Contra franchise had been to date. It just doesn’t have enough in a way of breasts to compliment the on-screen action and the disjointed story about shooting stuff to death. Y’know, with BREASTS. Dragon Divide recognized this horrific failure by Konami’s Contra games and decided to do something about it. They decided to make Alpha Squad, a challenging arcade style campaign of guns,… Continue reading →

A very Bastion Wedding

As a nutjob hoping to get his own wedding sorted out, I already feel like some idiot nerd who should have sold out some aspect of his nuptials to at least one or two of the venerable franchises I worship with fervor. But no Transformers though, I already lost that battle… Anyway, for those who are still toying with wedding ideas, here’s some food for thought: The sexy sounding Bastion narrator rattling off lines to your special day. Yeah, scares the crap out of me… Continue reading →

Bird Assassin: BIRDS WILL TRY TO KILL YOU! SHOOT THEM!!!

I’ve feel like a heel. Not because I’m some self-absorbed asshole (so true), but because I haven’t really done much on indie gaming, which is both sad and tragic. It’s nice to stay topical talking about titles like Batman Arkham City, Madden 12, Modern Warfare 3 or Battlefield 3; however, there’s plenty of genius that isn’t addressed in the gaming industry and most of it is made by gamers for gamers, for a ridiculously cheap price. It’s like we’re creating our own kingdom made of… Continue reading →

Skullgirls: Delayed until 2012

The ridiculously well-received Indie fighter, Skullgirls, is apparently looking to take its sweet time getting to us. On the plus side, we can continue to lead relatively normal lives as we wait for the game’s far off release date. A wait mostly composed of confusing feelings about colorful, busty cartoon women whose hairpieces, hair, and… stuff do wildly wacky combat. With stuff. On their heads. While the wait is kind of a bummer, I’d rather wait and have a better games as a result than… Continue reading →
