Sony: The PS3 steps up the video streaming war!

So… This is old news, but it’s news worth repeating and further discussing because of what it represents for the future. Mostly consider it late breaking update. Or something. Awhile back, Amazon successfully put its fancy streaming stuff on Sony’s console to a shockingly excitable reception. I watched my Twitter feeds go ablaze with people happily dropping Netflix out of their lives entirely; their jubilation mixed thoroughly with poisonous spite after enduring Netflix’s consistent bungles, hiccups and… “Qwikster”. Having given it a spin, I can… Continue reading →

Spoiler alert! Well… not really, since this hideous fact is being celebrated in plastic immortality… In Transformers: Prime the Autobot known as Cliffjumper dies in the very first episode. Brutally. This has made him crazy popular amongst the fandom and in our sick fetish for dead robots, we have howled for more Cliffjumper stiff in his very dead absence. For a dead dude he gets A LOT of figures, which is strange since we’re still waiting on primary characters in the show to get the… Continue reading →

Transformers Generation One hits Netflix!!!!!

You have permission to feel pleasure. Feel it. Recall the days of youth and the precious joy found within the civil war of Cybertronians. Joyous News indeed. The ORIGINAL Transformers cartoon from the eighties has wriggled its lazy ass on to Netflix’s instant watch program and as much as I loathe Netflix for many of their questionable business decisions… I’m a whore for my days of yore. I had to change pants twice after I heard this news, and I already own the entire series… Continue reading →

Transformers Rescue Bots: Parenting in a new age

This is awesome. Liquid nerd oozes from the screen as a father poisons his son’s youth with the awesome Rescue Bots toy line and TV series while they talk about it. And there’s a giant Dinosaur. You might wonder why I make this irrational “nerd” assumption, but any man who owns Masterpiece Grimlock is a nerd worth saluting and this man, despite his peculiar exploitation of a child, is just such a nerd. I hope my kids will be that receptive to my manipulation of… Continue reading →

TF Prime isn’t all that bad, in fact the series is remarkably excellent! This episode is cool because it sums up all the moving parts in the series to date while hinting at the first earthborn Transformer: Nemesis Prime. If you’re curious to give the show a taste, check this out. I don’t usually jive with review episodes (blegh!), but this review episode (ugh!) is a nice way to jump in and see what the show has to offer. Sort of. I guess. Shut up.

Transformers: Prime – Targetmasters Continue to be awesome and Asian Exclusive…

Transformers: Prime after finally making it onto shelves was put to shame shortly after its year-too-late release by the Arms Micron subseries in somewhat direct competition with our partially reviled Robots in Disguise series of figures. Let’s talk about sentient weaponry, sprues, adhesives and paint application! After the cut!

Hasbro spent a lot of money to finally have total control over their brands. They even bought a cable channel in a partnership with Discovery. The primary brands ruling the channel are My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, GI Joe: Renegades and Transformers: Prime. Much as I do and will complain about all the incredibly stupid shit Hasbro does, these shows are magnificent. Aesthetically they may rub you the wrong way, but this is television at its finest and children’s television at a level that… Continue reading →

Cartoon Network cancels Thundercats?!?

After an abrupt departure, the series finally came back onto Cartoon Network recently. The series pulls less punches than before with the introduction of Mumm-ra’s new generals whose implied murders and wanton violence are as disturbing as they are awesome. The story remains on course as a brilliant recreation of the original story with a harder edge with only its path to closure in question. Sadly, CN has unveiled its offerings for next year in a press release and Thundercats was decidedly absent. The dubious… Continue reading →

Director Michael Bay is lending his talents to another preciously beloved franchise: The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I’ll just let that sink in for a moment. ……………………………………….. Like it? Well, it gets better. According to a recent diatribe by Michael Bay it was revealed that to distinguish this film from the rest of the franchise they would not be mutants or turtles, they will be aliens. Turtle-like aliens. They’re basically teenage aliens of turtle-ish appearance. Michael Bay talks Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by stuffwelike Fans… Continue reading →

Well, okay… technically that isn’t Optimus Prime and yet, technically he is. During the 90′s, the Japanese had this nifty series set after the main Transformers TV series called “Super God Masterforce” which introduced the Pretenders and their battle for Earth. The meat of the series was really all the humans who became Transformers themselves through a series a wild Power Ranger gestures to become transforming engine blocks or robot heads that would allow them to control larger robot bodies. The guy above was called… Continue reading →
