DC Comics Films in a Post-Avengers world?

WOW. Just WOW. The Avengers was amazing and pulled off precisely what this comic-to-film transition need, some damn fine continuity with the intelligent awareness that the film itself was meant to encapsulate something bigger while being its own unique story at the same time. It’s probably the finest comic film ever made, hands down. Sorry Purplemonkeydishwasher, it’s just a fact. They took some damn good Marvel flicks released them with a plan for something bigger and it worked. Meanwhile at DC, Superman is getting another… Continue reading →

Sony: The PS3 steps up the video streaming war!

Sony-LOGO

So… This is old news, but it’s news worth repeating and further discussing because of what it represents for the future. Mostly consider it late breaking update. Or something. Awhile back, Amazon successfully put its fancy streaming stuff on Sony’s console to a shockingly excitable reception. I watched my Twitter feeds go ablaze with people happily dropping Netflix out of their lives entirely; their jubilation mixed thoroughly with poisonous spite after enduring Netflix’s consistent bungles, hiccups and… “Qwikster”. Having given it a spin, I can… Continue reading →

This magnificent video take all the genius and majestic film crafting talent Michael Bay put into all three entries in his Magnum Opus of movies, The Transformers Trilogy, and sums it up into a few moments of awe-inspiring brilliance. It touches on Bay’s firm grasp of comedy, use of strong female leads, easily conveyed plot points and his flattering appearance of the men and women that serve in our armed forces today. Watch the video for yourself and try –JUST TRY– to not come away… Continue reading →

In the Dark of Knight… It Tumbles!

I would much rather have minimates, but thanks to the madness that is licensing leads to Mezco leading the cute charge back into the new Tumbler vehicle for Dark Knight Rises with Batman & Bane. Or the spare Tumbler. Whatever. I dunno. Until Batman hits theaters I know as much as you do. Unless you’re Batman… Anyway, it’s awesome and cute and stuff. By stuff I mean AWESOME and by cute I hope you’re noticing the trickle of bat-blood dribbling out of the bat-side of… Continue reading →

Frank Miller’s “I’ll Believe it When I See it!”

I have this fear. I’m afraid that one morning I will wake up and it will be the past. Either somehow I time traveled in my own body or that the last X amount of years was just a dream. It’s something I will not need therapy for as I have seen enough movies and read enough comic book plots where I know what to do in that situation… Expansive and inviting cleavage that barely cushions perfectly rational skepticism after the cut. You’ve been… Continue reading →

Justice League: DOOM – Batman reminds you to log out for security reasons!

Justice League: Doom is another in the line of “Why the hell not?” series of animated movies by DC drawing from a lot of better known comic and TV elements, primarily the lauded “Legion of Doom” from SuperFriends and the comparatively recent snafus wherein Batman forgot to lock his batcave, update Norton or stepped out to the Bat Potty as another party enters and downloads his “How to Defeat My Allies – By Batman” novella he had been writing. This theft leads to attempts on… Continue reading →

Mega Man X: The movie? I’d tap–er, WATCH that!

Remember that awesome indie Megaman Film from awhile back on Screwattack? Well, some mad genius named Olan Rogers felt obliged to jump in and make a Megaman X film! It’s admittedly a little strange with the X-styled Protoman that he’s fighting for… some reason, but the point is that it’s already 100% more accurate in every way than if Hollywood had gotten ahold of it like the poor Ninja Turtles. According to Kotaku, this little film cost him $700 to make! I’m a little sad… Continue reading →

The Dark Knight Rises Viral: Fire Rises

December 15, 2011 Several websites received an interesting package in the mail. It contained a single t-shirt with a picture of Bane and the words “FIRE RISES” over it. Though the shirt was great, it’s really the packaging that is something to talk about. It was delivered in a tube and the tube was covered in a map of Gotham City. The map itself was marked up with circles in key areas of the city and labeled as strike zones.   Not much is known… Continue reading →

The Dark Knight Rises…In My Pants

The new trailer for TDKR is finally online and not in a crappy bootleg. People are calling it a trailer but to me it’s more of a teaser. I say that because if you didn’t know what you were watching you would barely know this was a Batman movie.  It shows more Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle and less Batman and no Catwoman. It also shows a good amount of Bane. Not to say that this is a bad trailer. In fact it leaves a… Continue reading →

Seriously… It’s a rough kick to the goods just knowing that Dark of the Moon was an intentional release! Where do you go when bird-shaped robot alien assassin’s murder JFK? Back into the toilet. Obviously. I’ve recently seen this set in person, but if pressed to purchase these films in any fashion I’d recommend getting each of these individually. Used. Not new. The opposite of new. Old. I say this simply out of practicality because there’s nothing distinguishing the new copies from the old copies… Continue reading →
