Robocop 2013: Sightings on the set, drones in the air and ED-209 ain’t on no stairs!
Apparently, there’s a new Robocop movie.

Why is this necessary? Actually, that’s not even the weirdest part. The weirdest part is the new look for Robocop. Not sure if Kenner made a stealth Robocop back in the day, but this guy kinda fits that bill. At least he isn’t flying on a jet pack and battling it out with Yakuza-bots… yet.
Who’s that on the set? New Robocop or some kind of wacky uniform for security? If I had to guess, I’d say set security. Although some folks seem to think this vaguely Robocop looking guy is actually the new Robocop. Weird.
I’m not entirely too worried about this film, yet. It’s the whole intellectual Bankruptcy thing in Hollywood that scares me a lot more. On the plus side, it might make the blu ray of the original movies even cheaper and the licensing fun means potentially more NECA and Figma Robocop toys, but… At what cost?

I mean, WHO CARES?!?! Not about the toys, because I certainly care. I’m just saying, why reboot something that ain’t broke? And that SUIT… What the hell is THAT all about? That guy just better be workin’ the suit like Peter Weller or they’re gonna have to clean up tons of shit in post. Like his human looking hands, for starters. Come on people, armor up that meat sack completely or not at all!
I’m gonna need to go have a quick cry and rethink a few things in my life while hollywood sees fit to “re-imagine” all the fond memories I have of the 80′s and 90′s until they ruin everything.

I’m liking the ED-209, but I don’t see that as having issues with stairs. Particularly when it has aerial support drones (featured in the trailer) and likely shit tons of its ED-209 brethren skittering around the city. Probably just need 2-3 of the suckers at opposite ends of a building to start leveling it.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure it just KILLS stairs now.

Oh, and I have an ED-209 in my backyard. It’s quite nice, and keeps the neighbour’s dog from yapping in the wee hours of the night.

Yeppers! Around his left ankle (anywhere else and he gets cranky). I named him Bruticus, and he’s fond of hot chocolate with marshmallows in it. I have no idea why. Might be a slight programming defect. Not complaining, though *snuggles Brutty*

I found it so hilarious that I got an email from Amazon earlier today after you said “On the plus side, it might make the blu ray of the original movies even cheaper”. 15 bucks for the trilogy. Hard to beat that!
